There are many benefits to sustainability, both short-term and long-term. We cannot maintain our Earth\u2019s ecosystems or continue to function as we do if more sustainable choices are not made. If harmful processes are maintained with no change, it is likely that we suffer shortages in critical areas such as fossil fuels, several animal species will become extinct, and the atmosphere will be affected. Clean air and nontoxic atmospheric conditions, growth of resources that can be relied upon, and water quality and cleanliness, are all benefits of sustainability.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

At the same time, the energy needed for water production in Aruba increasingly comes from renewable sources. Operations in Aruba currently utilize about 18% percent energy generated from renewable sources comprised of wind and solar sources. That number is climbing quickly as new initiatives are being put into place.<\/p>

The envisioned future of the Island of Aruba is to be cleaner, greener and fuel oil free. Aruba is extremely well suited to developing renewable resources including wind, solar, hydroelectric and other alternatives. Its location in the Caribbean provides more than ample sunlight and excellent access to constant trade winds. Perhaps more important than these factors is the nation\u2019s deep commitment to the environment. The Aruban government, working with all stakeholders, has set a mandate to reach or exceed environmental standards that follow the Paris Accord by the year 2030.<\/p>

\u00a0Ultimately, the goal is to continuously reduce reliance on conventional energy methods to achieve 100% reliance on renewable energy by the year 2050.<\/p>

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tOf course, producing desalinated water requires energy. That\u2019s where Aruba offers an effective strategy based on efficiency at the water processing source. Our water provider uses ultra-high efficiency RECIP engines in the desalination process. This significantly reduces the energy required by about 30% over legacy desalination systems. It also lowers the environmental impact of the process.\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

As part of our<\/strong> move toward a sustainable solution, ArubaWater\u2122 has adopted packaging alternatives that contribute to a circular economy. This means that all of our products use recycled and recyclable materials where possible, and adopt efficiencies that reduce waste, emissions and energy requirements in manufacture and transport.<\/p>

Beginning in 2024,<\/strong> all of our products use 100% RPET recycled plastic in the manufacture of our bottles. Our RPET plastic is ethically sourced from existing global waste streams and certified as 100% recycled in a closed custody chain.<\/p>

The use of the 100% RPET recycled plastic helps prevent existing plastic from ending up in waste streams such as landfills or the ocean. The plastic, boxes and packing materials we use are all 100% recyclable.<\/p>

Our water is shipped<\/strong> for export in containers that normally arrive in Aruba full of cargo but travel to their source empty. As a small island nation, Aruba does not generally manufacture or develop products for export. By utilizing these otherwise empty containers for transport of our products to global markets, we can help offset fuel usage and reduce emissions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
